Everything you need to know before booking a trial
Find answers about age groups, ability levels, training locations, fees, trials and financial support.
EFA coaches boys and girls aged 4–18. Little Lions is for ages 4–6, academy squads currently run from U5–U18, goalkeeper training is for ages 5–18, and holiday camps are for ages 6–15. Availability varies by location.
Use the date-of-birth session finder on this page. For the 2026/27 season, age groups follow the standard 1 September to 31 August cut-off. The finder will show the correct group and current sessions.
Little Lions and holiday camps welcome a broad range of abilities. Academy squads use a one-week trial to understand each player’s current level and identify the most suitable training environment.
Your child trains with a suitable group, experiences the coaching environment and is observed by the coaching team. Afterwards, EFA will explain the appropriate next step. A trial does not guarantee academy placement.
The current schedule includes venues in Maida Vale, Camden Town, Brent Cross, Waterloo and Kennington. The correct venue depends on the player’s age group and the current timetable.
Training frequency depends on the player’s programme, age group and squad. Sessions generally last 60–90 minutes, and many older competitive squads train more than once each week. Confirm the current timetable before joining.
Academy fees currently start from £69.99 for some programmes. The exact price and billing basis depend on the programme and training frequency, and some competitions, kits or events may be charged separately. Confirm the full cost for your child’s proposed squad before registering.
Scholarships or financial assistance may be available, subject to eligibility, assessment and availability. Applications are considered confidentially. Review the current support information for the process and requirements.
Player welfare is supported through safeguarding policies, codes of conduct and clear academy standards. Parents should review the current EFA policies before registration.
